Over The Rainbow Wall Hanging

If you love rainbows and you’re looking for a quick and easy project that will brighten up your walls this is for you! Crocheted using a simple c2c (corner to corner) chart, a piece of dowel and some fringe you can whip it up in a few hours and hang it up for everyone to see.

You will need:

  • 4mm crochet hook
  • Yarn in the rainbow colours + silver/grey yarn for the fringe (I used aran weight cotton to make the pictured wall hanging)
  • A length of dowel or knitting needle to hang it from

Pattern:

To make your wall hanging you need to follow the ‘Corner to Corner’ chart below, if you have never crocheted using this technique before you can find some good tutorials on YouTube.

Once you have crocheted the panel, sew in your ends and then you are ready to add the finishing touches.

With a long length of yellow yarn and a darning needle, add the sun rays. I added 7 rays of different lengths to my sunshine, use the main picture for placement tips.

Using your grey/silver yarn cut 16 pieces of yarn, approximately 40cm in length. Holding two strands together add a fringe across the 4 blue squares in the bottom left corner, 2 fringe lengths per square.

To attach the hanging to the dowel/knitting needle, use the light blue yarn (the background colour) and loop it in between each of the top squares and around the dowel.

I hope you enjoy making your wall hanging, if you share your work on social media don’t forget to tag me so I can see how you get on!

Happy Hooking! 🙂
