The wonderfully kind team at Rico Yarns asked if I’d like to make something using their yarns. I jumped at the chance to try something I’d never worked with before, if you’ve never worked with Rico yarns before you need to check out their selection (you can find it on most yarn websites).
I was sent this beautiful selection of yarns to have a play with, they were all new yarns to me and I really enjoyed experimenting with them.
Once I had decided on a project I asked Rico to send me a couple more balls of the Essentials Super Chunky and the Fashion Light Luxury, I had a cowl design that would be super simple and use both yarns together. I have included the pattern below if you’d like to make your own.
To make the cowl you will be holding both yarns together at the same time. From row 2 onwards you will be working your stitches in the space between stitches rather than in the top of them.
Holding both yarns together loosely chain 25.
Row 1 – tr into the 4th ch from the hook, tr along to the end, turn. (23 trs)
Row 2 – 2ch, tr across (in between the stitches) to end, turn.
Row 3 to 33 – Repeat row 2, fasten off and break yarn (leaving a long tail to finish the cowl).
Holding wrong sides together whip stitch together through back loops only, this creates a lovely neat join.
I am so thrilled with the finished cowl and it only took me an evening to make – its a super easy thing to make and will keep you VERY warm on a chilly day! I want to say thank you to Rico for supplying such gorgeous yarn for this project.
Happy Hooking! 🙂
