Delicious Crochet Shawls

I recently had the pleasure of receiving a new crochet book packed full of gorgeous projects. ‘Delicious Crochet Shawls’ is written by Lisa Cook who is a fabulous designer based in the UK. I have followed Lisa on Instagram for a few years now and watched her style and designs evolve, I am so pleased that she has been brave enough to release a book – its beautifully written and I’m sure will be a big hit!

In the book you will find 21 crochet shawl designs all taking inspiration from delicious sweet treats “designed to entice the senses whilst crocheting”. Lisa has been very clever to include shawls for all skill levels. There are complicated patterns with a wide selection of stitches and also much more simple shawls which use one or two stitches in clever ways to create intricate patterns, perfect for beginners. There are shawls perfect for wrapping up and keeping warm in the winter such as ‘Cafe Latte’ and shawls that will go perfectly with a summer dress such as ‘Berry Lime Pie’ – this was a favourite of mine and the first shawl I decided to make from the book.

The ‘Berry Lime Pie’ shawl has been cleverly designed to use just one skein of 4 ply yarn which makes it a quick and easy project and a perfect way to use up that skein you bought but didn’t know what to use it for! I had a skein of gorgeous mustard 4ply yarn which I knew would be just perfect for this project, I didn’t want to lose the stitch pattern by using a fussy multi-coloured yarn and as you know – mustard is my go to shade this time of year!

As well as a clearly written ‘row by row’ pattern Lisa has also included a crochet chart which I found really useful. The pattern works with an 8 row repeat which makes it easy to pick up, lovely and repetitive but without getting boring. It worked up really quickly and I am absolutely thrilled with the final shawl!

I am so pleased to have been part of Lisa’s ‘Blog Tour’ team and loved working from this gorgeous book. If you like crocheting shawls, or have always wanted to but never got around to it I would definitely recommend ‘Delicious Crochet Shawls‘ it is also a perfect gift for a crocheter!
