Wool And The Gang Ra-Ra Raffia Review

Ra-Ra Raffia is the latest addition to the amazing yarn created by Wool And The Gang, its made from 100% long wood fibre and comes in 4 beautiful natural shades.

I’ve never crocheted with raffia, it’s always been something that I felt was more suited to wrapping presents so I was very intrigued to give it a go! There are currently 8 crochet kits available, ranging from simple plant hangers to summer bags and storage baskets, all with a very summery, middle eastern vibe.

The kit I chose to try out was the ‘Money Honey Clutch Bag’, a simple design which will make a great addition to a summer outfit (if the summer ever arrives in the UK of course!). It’s the first time I’ve worked from one of WATG’s kits and I have to say how impressed I was with everything about it! Beautifully packaged in their unmistakable style it included everything you needed to make the bag – 1 cone of Ra-Ra Raffia, money honey clutch bag crochet pattern, 3.5mm hook, darning needle and a magnetic fastening. I think it would make a perfect travelling project as everything fits neatly into the bag it comes in!

The bag was very simple to make, perfect for beginners and the raffia itself was surprisingly easy to work with. It has a suggested hook size of 4.5mm however the pattern requires a 3.5mm hook which gave the bag a more solid texture. The pattern was well written and easy to follow, the booklet also included stitch information and simple diagrams to help if required.

I’m really pleased with my finished Money Honey Clutch and think I will get a lot of use out of it, I loved making the bag and found the kit a pleasure to work with. Wool And The Gang products are a little more expensive than other brands but from what I have experienced you certainly get what you pay for.

I hope you enjoyed my review, I was not paid to write it and my opinions are my own. Please feel free to leave a comment and come follow me over on Instagram if you don’t already! Kate xx
