Multi Strand Cowl

Winter is coming and its getting pretty chilly here in the UK. It’s a fabulous time of year for us yarn lovers as we get to make all the hats, gloves, scarfs and blankets. It’s also time to think about making Christmas gifts which can be an expensive business!

The multi strand cowl is designed to be quick, use up what you’ve got lying around your craft room and create a warm, squishy, eye catching cowl which is a perfect gift (especially if you’re working to a tight budget or deadline!)

Multi Strand Cowl Pattern

What you’ll need:

  • 3 different yarns (for this pattern I used chunky, aran and dk)
  • 12mm crochet hook
  • scissors
  • darning needle

Abbreviations:

  • ch – Chain
  • st – Stitch
  • tr – Treble Crochet (US Double Crochet)
  • blo – Back Loop Only

Pattern is written in UK terms. Beginning chain always counts as first stitch. You can use any yarns for this cowl, just adjust the hook and beginning chain length accordingly. I find that using yarns of different weights produces the best results (and including chunky yarn speeds up the make!).

——————–

Holding all three yarns together chain 23.

Row 1 – tr in the 4th ch from the hook, tr across to end, turn.

Row 2 – ch3, tr in blo of first st, tr in blo of each st across to end, turn.

Row 3 to 25 – repeat Row 2.

Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing together. Using a darning needle sew the short ends of the cowl together and then weave in the ends to finish.

I really hope you enjoy this pattern! Please remember to tag me in any Instagram posts as I’d love to see your makes (@jellybean_junction). You are welcome to sell items made from this pattern but please credit me as the designer.

Happy hooking x
