I have recently been given the chance to review a fabulous new crochet book which is soon to be published – something I have never done before so was very excited to be asked!
‘Home Decoration in Crochet’ is written by the very talented crochet designer Tanya Eberhardt, you may have come across her blog Little Things Blogged – a great source of inspiration for crochet and knitting. The book is published by Tuva Publishing who specialise in craft books which means it is clearly laid out, full of colour and a joy to read.
October is a busy time of year for us crafters as we start making lots of things for Christmas. As my spare time was limited I wanted to make something relatively quick from the book which contains 25 colourful projects. I have a big stash of aran cotton yarn which I thought would work well for several of the smaller designs.
The project I decided to make was the ‘Elegant Purse’ which is a small purse/handbag with a simple but really effective design and a very easy to follow pattern. Using Drops Paris yarn I made the main part of the purse in grey and decided to use a contrasting colour for the side panels.
The simple stitches used to make the purse create such an amazing texture, I found it to be a really relaxing project and it only took me a few evenings to complete.
I absolutely love this book, its got a fantastic variety of projects and would suit beginners and more experienced crocheters. I highly recommend getting your hands on a copy when you can.
Happy hooking x
